Telehealth Visits

What is a Telehealth Appointment?

Telehealth refers to the treatment of medical conditions without seeing the patient in person. Due to the coronavirus outbreak, our providers may use telehealth platforms like AthenaTelehealth to perform live video and audio visits remotely. Our telehealth platform is simple to use and is HIPAA compliant. Patients can easily access a virtual room through an automatically shared URL via text message or email, no application installs, no portal logins, and no meeting id's required.

What do I need for a visit?

Many laptops and tablets are already equipped with microphone and a camera and that's everything you’ll need for your telehealth visit! You will also need to make sure that you have:

  • Internet access

  • Video accessibility on your computer or smartphone

  • Speakers or headphones

If you struggle with computer literacy, and think you might need help joining your appointment. Please don't hesitate to call our office for help at (505) 999-1600.

Does Insurance cover Telehealth?

Medicare, Medicaid, and most commercial insurance companies are covering Telehealth visits. We always encourage our patients to check their insurance benefits. By consenting to a telehealth visit, you understand and agree that you are located in the state of New Mexico and will be in New Mexico during your telemedicine visit(s) where your provider is currently licensed.
