Hemorrhoid Banding
Hemorrhoid Banding
Hemorrhoid banding, also known as rubber band ligation, is a minimally invasive, office-based procedure performed by our gastroenterologists at Southwest Gastroenterology to treat symptomatic internal hemorrhoids.

This procedure is highly effective, does not require surgery, and is typically completed in just a few minutes with minimal downtime.

What Happens During Hemorrhoid Banding?
Hemorrhoid banding is performed in a procedure room at Southwest Gastroenterology and does not require anesthesia or sedation.

During the procedure, a small rubber band is placed around the base of the internal hemorrhoid. This cuts off the blood supply to the hemorrhoid, causing it to shrink and eventually fall off naturally, usually within a few days.

The procedure itself takes only a few minutes. Most patients are able to return to normal activities the same day.
